Cherry Blossom Festival

Hello everyone.
It's been a long time since I last updated, and I apologize for that. My laptop broke down for a couple months, and I just got it fixed not too long ago. Also I was busy with work and to be honest quite lazy when it comes to editing photos (⌒_⌒;)

Recently I just quit working at Adonia tea house (I do have another job though) so I have more free time. so here I am attempting to revive this dead blog. I do update more often on tumblr and Facebook though, feel free to follow/add me there (｀・ω・´)”

It's a tradition festival in Vancouver that each year around the time of cherry blossoming, there'd be a 2 days festival at Van Dusen garden. This year is the first time me and my sister Sharon attending it,  we only went on the first day.

Since the festival majorly focusing on Japanese couture, there was a lot of traditional performance and vendors selling products/food. I was expecting to see some familiar faces of people in the anime/lolita community but to my surprise, we were the only dressed up people there (traditional Japanese clothing doesnt count).
So naturally we attracted a huge amount of attention. The requests for photos were nonstop, we couldn't stop to take a photo by ourselves without a big crowd gathering around.
It's flattering people find us pretty looking, but it's also annoying to a certain level. Like when we posed for our own photos people just snap without asking, and its awkward to pose when so many eyes are fixed on you (/ω＼). Another example is when we sat down to eat and chose a more secluded place with our back turned against, people still asking for photo. I find it very rude to disrupt another while they eat （-＿-）

Aside from that, I had a lot of fun and was very happy with the positive treatment from everyone. A lot of little kids asked their parents if we were princesses (´ω｀★). Some thought we were part of the staffs, well I supposed we acted the part as one of the entertainer of the festival ʘ‿ʘ

I also met some interesting people, like this photographer Mark Montgomery who worked for the festival and took some nice shots of us, also a very friendly person. One of the shot make it to the front page of a small online Japan newsletter in Vancouver  (^_^) ->  CLICK TO VIEW

We were also approached by one of the organizers of Electro Swing Club Vancouver, and he asked us to be a part of their upcoming event Electro Tea Party . So if you are in Vancouver make sure to make some time for the party, its theme is Alice in Wonderland. You won't miss us as we will be at the front door to greet guests at the beginning of the party ヽ(‘ ∇‘ )ノ

There weren't a ton of food vendors, so they are all packed with long lineups（ ＴДＴ）.

A Midsummer Picnic

Back when the weather was still warm, me and all the girls from Angelpolis had our 2nd official party. The theme this time was a picnic in the park. The location is Stanley Park Rose Garden. I really like and recommended this park since it was pretty and quiet, also easy to access and close to Downtown area :)

All of the food was prepared by our talented members, Tamie made the savories and Gail baked the sweets <3.

Tamie also prepared her own mix of Rose tea, and Karen brought some Rooibos teas.
It was so delightful enjoying delicious homemade foods and tea while surrounded by flowers. I've had quite a lot of afternoon tea experiences, but this was the best yet. Not to mention we only had to pay very little for all those goodies ;w;b. Tamie and Gail are the best XD

Most of us brought our own tea cup, however Tamie also brought some from her cup set collection to share too.

I also got the chance to talk more to other members, most I've known for a long time but barely had a conversation with. So it was really nice to get to know more about them

When the sun started going down, some members had to leave while Tamie, Uzuki, Karen , Sharon and me went for some light dinner.

It was really hard to find a cafe opened around 9pm since it was a Monday, all the nice places we wanted to visit close that day so we had to chose Aberdeen mall.  Was a bad idea trying out ''7th Heaven Cafe'', I had tomato based Borscht  soup and even I'd be honest Campbell's canned vegetable soup tasted much better. Never going back there again, while interior and atmosphere is nice if the food sucks it's not worth it.

After 3 years into the lolita fashion, finally i have a lolita circle ^^.

Even though I've known about Tamie a year ago through facebook, we never actually talked , until I saw her again at Cos&Effect - an anime convention- this year. I'm usually a very shy person to start a conversation with someone im not familiar with, to my surprise it was super easy to talk to her :D.
And after that Angelpolis was formed

For our first official meet up, we wanted to keep it small since Tamie was the only one with a car and our destination is very far out of the main city. We had afternoon tea at this lovely teahouse/boutique place.

I think this is the furthest I've traveled since I lived in Vancouver haha orz..

We even had our own little room

The food was all homemade and very fresh <3. Afternoon tea for 2 was only $24 (drink not included), super cheap ^o^b. Though it wasn't exactly the best i've tasted , I would come again for the atmosphere.

Leaving the teahouse, we took a walk through the town. It's truly a historical town, fresh air, quiet street and antique looking stores/houses. I just love it there, wouldnt mind living there when I retired haha

It was the first time I've been out in lolita that everyone I encountered had nothing but positive comments toward me. The people in this small town are so nice and accepting of alternative fashion , it made me really happy and proud of my style. Not just older people, even the teenagers were excited to see us as well and a lot asked for photos together XD

Concluded our fun day, we went to Nikkoffee for light dinner and chilled there for quite a while.

Overall I had a great time that day. I was pretty nervous at first since I knew everyone before but never spoke to them, but they turned out to be all very nice and easy to talk to. This had to be the best lolita meetup I've been to so far.

                                     

 Finally I want to share some of the current songs in my playlists . Right now I'm getting into JuJu, she has such an unique and soothing voice that goes perfectly well with her songs. It's surprising to see she's not getting enough attention as some other big artists :/
